we created two public folders as type calendar for
scheduling conference room times. when users go to
schedule a time for this resource it's schedule shows up
as hash marks. anyone know how to correct this? default
perms on these pub folders is "author".

This is normal behavior. Public folders do not expose free/busy information except in a group schedule in Outlook 2002 or later.

Ok, so i now created two email accounts such
as "confroom1" and "confroom2" and that shows busy times
in the add new schedule when selecting these addresses. i
was wanting these email accounts when selected to auto
update the public folder too but that doesn't work.

is there a better way to setup scheduling for resources
like conference rooms using outllog 2002/msx5.5 ?

where is the "group schedule" if you don't mind me asking?

You don't need the public folder if you have set up a mailbox for each resource. (But you can invite the public folder if you like -- it has its own email address.)

You can experience the group schedule feature for yourself by going to your Calendar folder and choosing Actions | View Group Schedules.
