Matt L.

Can you synchronize a public calendar with a private
calendar so you are notified of events from the public
calendar? Or, how can I make the public calendar send
notifications to users.

Thanks

Outlook has no built-in feature for synchronizing data in one folder (say, an Exchange public contacts folder) to another folder, like perhaps your Contacts folder. See http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/sync.htm#exssync for ideas.

If your main concern about synchronizing is to be able to have all the data in one folder that you sync with a PDA, consider getting a PDA utility that will let you sync multiple folders.

Reminders can be handled with a tool from http://www.slovaktech.com

You could try using the Folder Assistant, to create a rule which
forwards every new appointment in the Public Folder to a list
of people or yourself.

You would then have to drag the appointment item, which is attached to the
forwarded e-mail, into your personal calendar, from where reminders
will be issued as usual.
