Anyone have any good recommendations for a PSU that will provide a 24 pin
power plug connection and 8 pin power plug?

I don't want a PSU where I need to use a converter for both of these
components.

Most "newer" power supplies not all come with a 24pin power connection.
Just shop around for known brands like Antec, Enermax (??) and PC
Power&Cooling.

The case I am getting is an Antec case that comes with a 400 Watt smart power
supply. I am going to run a low end graphics card and 1 hard drive and 1
optical drive.

Do you think this power supply will do?

yes
If it's 12v v2.0 standard then it will (should) have 24 pin and 8 pin cable.
If it doesn't then use adapter. It doesn't make any difference.
Antec cases and Ps are ok.

Sure. Lots of folks on a HARDWARE board probably have loads of
advice. Your quesion, however, is out of place on THIS board.

How can it be "out of place" on this board? This group is called Windows XP
Hardware. And the question I am asking is harware related to XP.

He obviously can't read too well!!

I guess that's why his name is NobodyMan. He's a nobodyman looking to make
himself into a somebodyman.

Your PSU and how it connects to you equipment has NOTHING to do with
your OS. It would hook up to everything exactly the same way if you
ran Linux, straight UNIX or and old version of DOS.

So once again, why are you crying here? Move on.

And the same could be said of those asking about their floppy disk
drives, or hard drives, or any of a large number of hardware devices
that do Not include any drivers for XP.

Hey, you are finally getting it. You are correct.

Now if somebody was asking questions like how to format a newly
installted drive using XP's Disk Management too, that belongs here.
If they are asking how to install the drive in the case and get BIOS
to recognize it, then they should be elsewhere.

I'm glad you finally see the light.

But what if their floppy drive works fine under Windows 98, but not
under Windows XP? Where do they go? It obviously is Not a Hardware
problem with the floppy drive. Yes, it could be a problem with the
cable or some setting in the BIOS, but how can the poster know this
without asking a question? And where are they supposed to post the
question? And Googling is not an answer. There is just far too much
"noise" in Google to find an answer without getting lucky.
Instead of slamming everyone that comes here looking for help either
answer their question or ignore it.
