A friend of mine have an old computer on which I'm doing some
maintenance. This box has a SPX-250c/2.01 power supply.
From one of the 4 IDE power plugs, there is a twisted pair of wires
(red and black) leading to a small 2 pin FEMALE connector which looks
like a fan connector (except that there are 2 pins instead of 3, and
it's female instead of male).
Any idea what this wire is used for ?
Can it be a probe which plugs on the motherboard's power fan connector
? If so, isn't it odd that this cable is connected to an IDE power
end ?
The motherboard (Asus P2B) has a 3 pin "power fan" connector. Is it
where this probe plugs ? Which 2 out of 3 pins should I use ?
Thanks.
