.PST Location -- Finding

Recently my hard drive crashed. Windows will no longer load, but I'm able to
boot using other tools to a DVD and get on the damaged hard drive. I can't;
however, find my PST file. I stored everything on it and had it password
protected.

I can't search my hard drive and I've searched every reasonable place I
could think of. Application Data, ect....

Is there a file I can look in on the old hard drive to see where Outlook was
finding the PST file? It was always there when Outlook loaded so one would
assume it's saved in some sort of file somewhere. I searched the Registry and
couldn't find it there.

Much appreciated!

if you are using Windows XP and your pst file was in the default location,
then you can find it here:
C:\Documents and Settings\{Your user name here}\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook\

By default it is located in
C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook\
For Windows Vista the default is
C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\
Howevever it could have been located anywhere you placed it

Thanks for both of your responses. In my wisdom, I put it somewhere else.
I've looked in all those spots. Does anyone know where Outlook stores the
location? In the file system? I thought the registry somewhere in
HKEY_CURRENT_USER would be a good spot, but it has no reference to PST files
there.

If I could simply search my hardrive this would be easy, but I can't because
of it's state.

If Outlook placed it in the default folder, make sure that you have hidden
folders as viewable. The folder it defaults to is hidden by default.

Yup, did all those things. It's not in the default location. I think I was
being crafty, hence... I'm guessing no one knows where Outlook stores PST
information. I thought it would be the Registry.

Mine seems to be in
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\Catalog\

Thanks for the reply. This raises a point. I think it is stored there, but
since I'm going through WIN INTERNALs, booted off the DVD, I don't think I'm
able to see my profiles HKEY_CURRENT_USER.

I think I'm out of luck. Thanks though!
