I would like to copy (burn to CD) and transfer Outlook Contact files (PST)
from a friend's computer running Office XP and then transfer to another
computer which uses Office 2000. First, is this backward compatibility
possible? And second, how should the copy be burned, i.e., should I use
CD-R, CD-RW, format for drag/drop, etc.???

Thanks in advance.

Yes, they are backward compatible. Doesn't matter how you burn it as long as
you do it when Outlook is closed. Copy the file from CD to the HD of the
other computer and remove the Read Only file property. Open the file by
File-> Open-> Outlook Data File...

Didn't work. Archived my Contacts folder, then burned it to a CDR. However
when I open the archived Contacts PST file all it shows in the folder list
is "Archived Folders," and "Deleteted Items" (subfolder). "Contacts" folder
is not listed? Please advise.

You've probably burned the wrong pst-file file then

Make sure you include hidden and system files and folders when searching for
pst-file.

By default it is located in
C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook\

You can also locate the file by using
Rightclick the root folder (probably Outlook Today)-> Properties-> button
Advanced-> field Filename
