I recently backed up my Outlook .pst files to a CD. Then I copied the backed up .pst file from the CD to my C: drive. When I went to open the .pst file in Outlook 2002 I received an error message "The file C:\Outlook.pst is not a personal folders file.". The 'read only' attribute is off. The file size is 35,009 kB. Any suggestions to help me open this file would be greatly appreciated.

Can you open it after a reboot of your computer?

I am having similiar problem trying to copy personal
folders from outlook 2000 to outlook 2002 via burning a
CD. Is this aconflict issue between 2000 and 2002? any
help appreciated.

File doesn't open after reboot. After reading other people's .pst problems it would appear this is genreally a common issue that Microsoft might consider reviewing with a view to making the process of backing up Outlook data safer.
