Hello!

Is it possible to turn off default settings to .pst file
at 1st startup of outllok and set it directly to MS
Exchange server ?

Default is to configure your client not creating a pst-file.

Anyway, when you install the Office Resource Kit you can create a prf-file
which you can use to automate configuration of Outlook.

Hope this helps!

We already using this, but can we prevent user to create
pst file in any cases ?

You can't but you can change the default location of the pst-file with Group
Policy. Here you can also disable command buttons. For this you need to know
which ID the command button has that creates a pst-file. Which version of
Outlook are you using?

Excuse me, that was for Outlook 98. For Outlook 2003 pre Technical Refresh
it is 5575 and I believe it is for Outlook 2002 as well. Tomorrow I can
doublecheck that if you want.

Here is the answer to the question you mailed me on how to disable buttons.
I also mailed you the info.

You can disable command buttons Outlook already has. For instance File->
New-> Outlook Data File. If you disable this command it's already a lot
harder for your users to use a pst-file. When you also disable the command
File-> Open-> Outlook Data File it is also impossible for them to bring in
an empty pst-file and connect to it.

When you've got the Office Resource Kit installed you can use Group Policies
to disable those commands.

For this go to Group Policy Editor;
User Configuration-> Administrative Templates-> Microsoft Outlook 2002->
Disable items in user interface-> Custom-> Disable command ar buttons and
menu items.

For Outlook 2002
New Outlook Data File command ID: 5575
Open Outlook Data File command ID: 5576
