PST corruption - how to fix

I have a problem with 2007 Outlook .pst file (running VISTA); error message;
"Cannot expand the folder. The set of folders cannot be opened. The file
C:\Users....\microsoft\outloook\David Driscole.pst cannot be opened."

I have removed this particular .pst file from outlook.

Have tried running SCANPST.exe on problem .pst file but get the error; "An
Unknown error prevented access to the file..."Error 0x80070570: The file or
directory is corrupted and unreadable."

Have tried renaming but get the same error as above.

Have tried restoring a previous version, but none exist.

Any other suggestions or is it gone?

Check disk gets stuck at 6% and doesn't move forward. Any other ideas for
repairing a corrupt .pst file that I can't move (copy) off my machine?

The ckdsk failure indicates a bad drive. Suggest you remove as much info from the drive and replace it ASAP. Try putting the old one in as a slave and see if you can access your .pst file to copy to the new disk. Then open it in Outlook using file->open->outlook data file.

Tried some online software demos, none are happy with trying to open the ..pst
file, let alone repair it. No luck with:
