I burned a .pst file onto a cd-rw and then copied it onto the desktop of
another computer. I have tried opening it and it still gives me an error
message that says "This is not a valid .pst file". I have never had trouble
opening it before. I put the old contacts .pst file into the trash can and
then tried it. I then restored the old .pst files just to make sure that
..pst files were opening it. I had no trouble opening the old file, which is
also copied off of a cd-rw I burned. Then I deleted all of my contacts and
then tried to open the new .pst file again. Do you have any advice?

the read only box is not checked.

Did you remove the read only attribute any file on a CD acquires?

When you burn that PST to the CD, Outlook must be closed. Also, there is
anecdotal evidence that some burning software doesn't handle PSTs well.
Finally, after copying the PST from CD to your hard drive, make sure you
remove the read-only attribute.

Then you will have to provide more information on how you created this file
so we can figure out how you corrupted it.
