pst access denied

I cannot open the archive.pst file. When I try to open it thru Outlook, a
box pops up with the message "Properties for this information service must be
defined prior to use." I click "OK" and then this message pops up, "The file
C:\Windows\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\archive.pst
could not be accessed. Access is denied." Then I click "OK" and it just
goes back to Outlook. I have unchecked the Read Only box on the properties
and I have tried to run scanpst.exe and it also says access denied. The file
is about 900 MB in size. Does anyone have any suggestions? Oh, I have
Windows 98 and Outlook 2000.

Usually you would know if you installed one.
I cannot speak for win9* but in later versions of Win there maybe a search
bar on the tool bar

The read only flag should in any case not be checked, by default, unless you
have perhaps copied the archive from a cd, and if that is the case it is
likely whatever method you used to copy the archive corrupted it
