PS3 into MM21: jerky rendering on rapid movements

Michel

I use to make photoshows in PS3, to be imported in MM21 as part of movies
including also video clips & music (PAL).

Into the PS3 story I of course use pans and zooms. If these movements are
quite "small": no problems. But if these pans and zooms are large and rapid,
the PS3 movie, when rendered again in MM (wmv or dv-avi), does not play
smoothly: the movement is jerky (though the original rendering from PS plays
smoothly).

Is it a well known issue? How to correct it?

Thank you in advance

CPU speed? RAM?

Once saved do the movies display this jerkiness when played back in Windows
Media Player? Try closing down other no - essential apps when testing this

Also may be related to the same issue Patrick is having a few posts down the
hall -

ie WMM is making video - not a series of still images like PS3 - so if your
PC is a bit slow/lacking in memory, it might not cope too well...

Try stopping all other non-essential apps to free up current memory

Yes, once saved the movie displays the jerkiness when played back in Windows
Media Player (as well as when played back on my TV, once burned on DVD).

CPU 1.7Ghz. RAM 512 MB. XP Pro SP2
Why do you think speed and ram should have an effect on the quality of the
rendering in MM? It is not a real time task. (?)

I can post exemples if you want (PS3 wmv file -smooth- and the same PS3 file
re-rendered in MM -jerky).

Any ideas?

Thank you.

What quality are you saving the WMV in WMM at?

The problem arises whatever the choosen quality, or whatever it is save to
wmv or dv-avi.

Am I the only one to have that problem?

Thank you.

PapaJohn has explained yesterday on Patricks thread (next door, down the
hall) that the PC finds it easy enough to compute linear PS3 transitions
(known picture to known picture) - but it requires a whole lot more
processing to do this as video. I suspect this is where the problem arises.
Put simply your PC isn't working fast enough with the video?

PapaJohn might have an idea on how you could get better results, but as he
is on the West coast of the USA you might need to wait a while for an
nswer - like 10 hours...;-)

I'll copy him direct on this NG reply so he is aware of your issue.

Hold on ...
