Has anyone found a way to get around the default settins in PS3? I don't
always want transitions and motion in my slides and it's a real pain to edit
100 slides for motion! I suspect it's built into the program, so maybe put
this on my wish list?

Go to this site, look under the Movie Maker 2 menu on the left. You will see
a folder for PS3 at the bottom. Open it and find the info you want there.

Thanks, I've done that. Unless I missed it, there's nothing there about
changing the default settings.

If you were comfortable hacking the saved project file... you could build
the story with the defaults, then extract the project XML file from the
saved project, do a search and replace for the transition settings, and put
the XML file back into the project.

The project file is a compressed DAT file. With the right utility you can
extract the XML file, edit it and put it back.

I would like to go ahead and suggest that this be made a feature in the PS3
interface. I can appreciate the desire to keep the interface clean and
uncluttered (it is VERY easy to use right now, as long as you want to work
with their default settings), but becomes very tedious changing positions,
delays, and transitions on every photo. Even a way to just select all the
photos and do a single modification of these parameters would be fine.

I was wondering if all this info was kept in a user-editable file, and
thanks to the info on www.windowsphotostory.com, found that it is in an XML
file inside a cab. I don't mind modifying this file myself, but would have a
hard time convincing someone who has never seen DOS that this is a viable
solution.

Thanks to the software development team who worked on this project. It
finally gave me an easy way to do a slideshow of still images that I could
properly sync with audio. I tried something similar with PowerPoint one time,
and found it to be a nightmare.

Regarding the default settings, I noticed that there was a default duration
attribute in the XML file as well. Excited, I removed all nodes that
defined the images, changed the default durration attribute from 5 to 10,
packaged up the xml back into a cab, and renamed it to .wp3. To my
disappointment, Photo Story 3 seemed to ignore this top-level default
duration attribute and newly-imported images still had a "5" duration.
Apparently, Photo Story 3 ignores this setting.
