Do you type so fast that keyboard interface's performance limits your
progress?

I prefer PS/2, guaranteed to work in emergencies like a system crash, BIOS
flash, HDD image cloning etc. USB will not necessarily work in those
situations.

That' right, and very ennoying. I've an USB keyboard and use an USB to PS/2
adaptor to avoid this problem.

Good point guys!, never thought of that. But if I kept a PS2 on hand for
such emgerncies, I would be able to use a keyboard. I am thinking of speed
in the scense of an keys being pressed on a keyboard and the response going
to the computer, like a USB mouse, are the USB keyboards more responsive
than PS2?

Thanks

Either is faster than a human, possibly even faster than the key travel.

You will never be able to notice any difference. Thus, even if theoretically
an USB would be faster, why worry ????

Maybe if you have many USB devices on the same hub all running at the
same time since the bandwidth is shared. Otherwise, unless you can
type so fast as to fill the keyboard buffer you should not have any
problems.

Hello:

Not so much an issue of fast typing more so than its the response of the
mouse/keyboard for gaming. I have read some specs that Logitech Mouseware
will aloow you to set the mouse up to 200 from its standard setting of 80,
therefore increasing its speed and that USB sre even faster than that. Not
to beat this to death, thanks to all that replied for their thoughts.

Some of the older bootable software is written to expect a keyboard
and/or a mouse at a certain location. They will often not enable a
USB input device.
