Update report on old machine and a shelved new PS.
Oct 22 I reported here about an old machine which acted like it needed
to be tested with a new PS, but the new replacement PS I had on the
shelf didn't work. Googlegroup thread here

Subject: No power
I had purchased the PS on sale and with rebate 2010 Mar, but had never
used it. It didn't work when I replaced the existing PS with the new
one, so with a little help from here I bench tested the new supply,
which wouldn't do anything for me. The PS had a 2 year warranty, so I
contacted CoolerMaster which gave me an RMA and I mailed their 17 month
ago purchased but never used PS back to them and they replaced it under
the warranty.
I installed the new PS and everything is working hunky dory. I'll give
CM an atta-boy for honoring their warranty, but their online system for
statusing eRMA turned out to be useless; it still says they are waiting
for me to send the unit to them.
If I had bench-tested the PS right after purchase instead of simply
shelving it, I would have saved $6 in postage and some packaging and
waiting around to get my old machine back working because the
store-front merchant would have replaced the bad PS off their shelf if
returned in a timely fashion.
