Anyone using one of these mouse adapters with success? Thanks.

There is this kind. It converts a PS/2 keyboard and PS/2 mouse,
for usage with a USB computer. Some of the original versions
of these, had a problem with the mouse after about 10 minutes
of usage (don't remember the details now). Inside the "blob"
is an actual processor.

The other kind is smaller, and consists of a PS/2 male on one end
and a USB female on the other end. It is a passive adapter for
a USB mouse, and allows a USB mouse to be plugged into a PS/2
computer. The adapter is passive, and doesn't look to be big
enough for active elements. It basically rewires the four
pins from USB, to certain of the pins on PS/2. The mouse
must support the usage of such an adapter (not all of them
do so). I have a mouse that comes with one, and it works fine.

So if you had a USB mouse, it came with the green adapter, you
lost the adapter, then you can buy another one and expect it
to work. Otherwise, I don't know of a way to predict whether
a USB mouse is convertible with the passive adapter.

YES. The model including a small box in the middle containg electronics.
ebay = poor quality
shops = poor quality
would be better when the input & output cables are tied on a rigid bar
avoiding movements.
All are from the same chinese source except that shpts are pretty much
expensive.

A mouse's connector and operating mode aren't the same thing.
The connectors are:
serial mouse
ps/2
usb
The modes are ditto, but its common for a mouse to have one connector
but work in 2 possible modes. This means that some passive adaptors
work with some mice, but also many times they wont.
