ps/2 keyboard and mouse

my ps/2 keyboard and mouse wont work on every other start
up of windows xp. it is very consistent. i have to boot
twice every time. i don't understand why it will work
only on the second boot. please help me.

I cannot answer your question but my problem is similar.
I have just installed a wireless KB and mouse (PS2). On
start up everything is fine until I hit any keyboard key
and then the mouse and keyboard seize up. I notice that
the keyboard is not mentioned in Device Manager but I
don't know how to fix this. I have installed
MSIntellitype5.
 
I am having the same problem with my keyboard. It started when I "unsubscribed" to one of those blasted advertising emails. I have downloaded all MS XP updates and checked for viruses. I have also un-installed my Kensiko model SK-6000 keyboard (plug and play) which is shown as a Standard 101/102 - Key or Microsoft Natural PS/2 Keyboard. When I rebooted the keyboard is installed and all waqs fine until I shut down and start up the next morning.
