PS/2 hot plugging

I have an ASUS P4533 motherboard, and I was wondering how ASUS
motherboards react to PS/2 hot plugging (i.e. Connecting and/or
disconnecting a PS/2 keyboard or mouse while the computer is turned
on). Will hot plugging a PS/2 device damage the PS/2 port(s) on an
ASUS motherboard?

It's surely a good way to test the fuse (if you're unlucky) or the PTC (if you
are lucky). PS/2 ports were not designed for hot-plug...

At the VERY least, you'll likely lose the sync between the CPU and the
[input] device. (So you'll just have to reboot anyway). I would avoid the
risk, if it were me.

Even if there is no damage, the ps/2 device will not be recognised
until reboot, so might as well turn off anyway.

I've hotplugged keyboards and mice prior to getting USB peripherals,
and while it's certainly not the smart thing to do, the few times I
did take the chance it worked fine, no need to reboot either. So,
designed for it? No. Good idea? Not particularly. Can you do it? Yes,
but don't cry if it breaks. ;)

No, but the devices won't work until you reboot Windows.

The connectors aren't designed for it, for the spec isn't designed for it.

Whenever I've tried it, it hasn't worked, it usually requires a reboot to
function correctly (I have managed to succesfully get USB devices with a
USB -> PS2 convertor to work, but I remove the USB connector, not the PS2
one)

Bad idea.

I've replaced many a blown fuse on those ports. Some mobos are more
tolerant than others, but the risk ain't worth it.

Don't do it.The current at the PS2 port is way higher than that used
by USB and you can damage the ports.Ps2 wasn't designed for this.
