I have a proxy in my Network.
It is possible to set up automatic updating Spyware Definitions through a
proxy-server.
Where can I define my proxy sever?

Thks,
Duarte

If your proxy is properly defined for Internet Explorer, Windows Defender
should read those settings.

Windows Defender updates via WSUS, WindowsUpdate or AutoUpdate. Are you
running WSUS on this network? Is this machine able to update via
WindowsUpdate or AutoUpdate?

We have the same issue. Our proxy requires authentication. ASBeta was able
to handle the proxy, but Defender doesn't. Windows Update works fine.

I'm not sure this is the same issue. If Windows Update is working, that is
the mechanism through which Windows Defender gets signature updates.

Do you have a WSUS server on the subnet? Has the new class available for
Windows Defender signatures been enabled on WSUS?

I went to MS Update and got the updates that way, but using the "Update"
option from within Windows Defender still fails.

We have an SMS server with the ITMU installed, so automatic updates are
turned off for our domain. Does the ITMU support Windows Defender updates?
Maybe I can get them out there that way if we decide to deploy this broadly.

Sorry--ITMU is not something I know about. I do know that WSUS works, and
is the expected distribution method in a large enterprise. I believe that
the automatic update mechanism within Windows Defender is tied to the
autoupdate mechanism on your network.
