Hi all ...

Have submitted this question to the Proxomitron group but no solutions yet,
so I'll just make a brief inquiry here.

Anybody had problems connecting to ISP after configuring IE to use
Proxomitron (turning on Proxy Server, setting HTTP proxy address to
"localhost", and port to 8080)? The only way I can re-connect is to make a
new dialup connection to my ISP! The error message is Error 734.

This is on a fresh XP installation. I'm stumped. I think the Proxo site is
gone now so my support options are limited.

I don't know if this is related, but I've had the (rare) problem with
IE5 on 98SE connecting to localhost, regardless of what addy I throw at
it. I can Bypass or exit Prox, but to no avail. I can close IE down and
restart and sometimes it fires again properly. It may or may not have to
do with Prox, but I do know that an alternative browser (not configured
to work with Prox) will run OK.

I still get the HUGE, vertical Japanese characters upon opening, but then
got to google thru proxi...and no problem so far. Below is the info on the
Prox page to show that it is in fact version 4.5. But it isn't exactly
like the old one and I can't see as much info as before (e.g., re the
program and sites, etc.). I'm using Win98SE and <cough..cough>
OE 6. I don't advise UPgrading to OE6 absent coercion... I suspect
this problem of yours has more to do with "X-pee" than other programs.
