i have just downloaded windows anti spyware but not sure whether installing
it would b wise. im currently using spybot and ad aware (is it wise to use
both these programs together?) for spyware and kerio firewall and avg virus
buster. i know they aren't top shelf but its the best i can for now. are
these programs sufficient to protect my system. should i use windows anti
spyware instead of spybot and adaware? and is kerio better than the windows
firewall?

Remember the MS anti spyware is in beta and no. 1 to boot. If you are not
used to the problems of running betas and have other good protection. Stay
away for now. There will or at least should be a second beta which will have
bugs worked out. If you don't need it right now stay away for a while.

It is wise to install and use multiple anti malware applications.

However, it is *never* wise to install Beta software unless you are willing to deal with the
consquences if something goes wrong. Especially if it is a "production" platform.

the others call the ms antispyware as beta, and MS calles it a beta too,
but that product was from GIANT and was not beta before MS bought it.
MS called it beta for other reasons, and not because of stability problems.
So its safe to use, and you SHOULD have all 3 antispyware on.
Also look into avast home FREE edition for your antivirus, as I think its
better than
AVG free www.avast.com

And even a second Beta will still not be ready for prime time and could
still have hidden bugs. If you aren't confident of possibly not ready to
prime time software, avoid all Betas; wait for the actual release. Beta =
testing.
