We're running Windows XP Pro with SP2 and firewall enabled on the server and
all clients. that are all connected to one local network. John (my
co-worker) an I work
on the server computer. whenever i leave the computer on and go away for
a while, John used to disable the firewall thinking that it does nothing but
slowing down the internet connection. Telling him one milion times that he's
worng didn't work, I, too, have no attention to tell the boss. now how to
protect the firewall from being disabled by John seeing that he is using the
same computer I use with the same administrator user profile?!!!

Would it be ok to remove his Administrator privileges?

Are you serious? He has admin rights to a pc that he SHARES with someone
else, he doesn't know what a firewall is or what it does and won't show the
least bit of respect for other users who SHARE the computer with him?

Fire him!

What about using zone alarm pro and password protecting
the zone alarm install? That should keep it from being
interferred with.

clownz

I think the OP indicated that it was Windows Firewall at work. Probably not
going to get the company to switch firewalls because of one ignorant user.

null
it wouldn't. i cannot creat a new limited user profile for him. he must use
all the
administrator privileges when i'm off in order to do his job or else i would
be fired. he's the boss's cousin!!!
this is exactly what i'm suffering in this #$%^& company!
i wish i could, but even if i could, i wouldn't fire a boss's relative!
would you?
Windows Firewall is doing great job protecting our local network, no need
for ZoneAlarm or any other firewall, all i need is protecting Windows
Firewall from being interferred with.
yes right, i'm not going to get the company to switch firewalls because of
one #$%^& user!

hmmmm
it's ironic, windows firewall is protecting every thing BUT itself!!!
thanks you every body, now going to get a solution somewhere else
