Does anyone know how to protect individual cells in a
worksheet? I want people to be able to enter data but I
want to protect the cells that do the computations so
someone doesn't inadvertently insert data and overwrite
the formulas.

Select the whole sheet, do format>cell>protection, unchecked locked, select
the cells
you want to protect (hold down ctrl key while clicking the cells or press
F5, special and select
formulas, now do format>cells>protection and check the locked checkbox.
Finally protect the sheet
(tools>protection).

Once you have protected the sheet or the book using
tools>protection you can set protection for a specific
cell or range by:

1. Go to cell format (ctrl+1)
2. Go to Protection tab
3. Check the "locked" option

Felipe

In "Format", "Cells" set the "protection" for the cells that you will
need to change as follows;
Locked... Unchecked
Hidden... doesn't matter

For the cells that need protecting;
Locked...checked
hidden... up to you but checking this means that users can't see your
formulae.

Of course this achieves nothing till you protect the worksheet.
