I am working on a spreadsheet that I only want to protect certain cells from
being altered. When I try to used the directions from Microsoft Office
Online Help, it appears I must protect the entire worksheet which defeats the
purpose of protecting just certain cells. Another individual will input
hours per day, however I don't want this person to be able to change the
hourly rate of pay. Any suggestions?

Right Click on the cells you want unprotected

select Protection

Click on hte Protection tab

de-select Locked.

Protect the sheet

You will now be able to edit the unprotected cells.
