Protect a foler

How can i protect a folder? and is it possible to make this folder secured
from changing only? I mean that any one can open this folder, but can't
change anything.

It can be done by setting the permissions for the folder, but it's a
function of Windows and not any Office program. How it's done depends on
which version of Windows you have.
