I used to have a win 2000 machine & a windows xp home
edition machine networked just fine and sharing a router
and a cable modem. I have since got rid of the cable
modem and router and just wanted to continue to network
the same 2 machines so that they could share files and a
printer locally using a crossover cable but now I keep
getting the following message on the win 2000 machine
when I try access the LAN properties settings - "The
controls on this property sheet are disabled because one
or more other Network property sheets are alredy open. To
use these controls, close all the property sheets and
then reopen this one." I have had this error message for
a while and when I run "ipconfig" it does not even see
the nic! I do remember that someone tried to either
install more networking components or uninstall McAfee
6.0 on the win 2000 machine. Any ideas or help would be
appreciated!
