In Outlook Office 2000, is there a way to check the Properties of a received message before opening it? It was a handy feature in Outlook Express. Thank you.

What properties are you looking for, exactly? If you turn off the Preview
Pane, you can right click the item and click Options to get the full message
headers...

I'm looking for Properties that help me identify the origin of the message, so I'm not opening something with virus potential. Thank you.

Just as Jocelyn said. Turn off preview pane. When messages arrive, right click and check properties. You will see the complete message header and IP addresses. I do it all the time in case my spam filter lets a questionable one through. BTW, you should have the preview pane disabled to prevent viruses opening automatically.

She'd choose Options from the right click menu...there is no Properties
command there.
