Hi All,

I do not know what has caused my win2k to behave in such a
weird behavior. Whenever i do a right-click on the local
drives such as C, D and E drive and i could'nt see the
<properties> dialog box and even waited for few mins but
nothing happened. At such, i will not be able to share out
my local drives at all. There isn't any error message and
it system is not hang too.

Updated critical patches and my NAV but i don't think it
has anything to do with virus attack or worms. My Win2K
already installed with SP4.

The recent application that i installed was oracle 8i and
during that time i was still able to share out local
drives. It was until the beginning of this week to uncover
this problem.

If any kind soul and experts are willing to share your
advices, i would be very much appreciated.

Thanks.

All Patches don't make your computer better. Infact soem adversely affect
different computers in different ways, depending upon what applications they are
running, what hardware they have and the drivers for each, and there soooomany
issues now, I suggest that you read each individual one before Updating. And
another thing that is really giving M$ fits is the places like Yahoo, Excite, adn
even Hotmail. And I also believe that Microsoft is is in a quandry over the
Judgements handed down concerning Java and the like. Bottom line is, it pays to
dont' fix it if it ain't broke. The exceptions to me are the Security Patches done
by M$. I do read those carefully and usually install them. But I have good reason
to be skeptical that everything M$ is doing, doesn't come with a few little extras
that will solidify their further success as Monopolier (strange word).

One thing really basic is to make sure you have 2 Administrator accounts with
COMPLEX passwords. It's so easy for the younger generations to FDISK, FORMAT,
CLEAN INSTALL, LOW LEVEL FORMAT, and WRITE IN CODE to screw computers up, well you
just gotta practice safe hex. You might check by adding a user and use it to see
if prperties are showing up there. I also suggest, if you are a multiuser family
or group, that you definitely separate users to keep unkowns from happening to
you. And it you need, get a good AVP, firewall, anti-spyware utilites. I suggest,
AVG antivirus, Zone Alarm firewall, SpyBot-S&D, and Ad-aware. You can can find
them all free versions at www.spychecker.com .

I suggest you do a couple of things that should be standard.
Run a Scandisk <---everyone seems to be used to that
This actually a thorough Checkdisk
Do this when you have about 30 minutes to do something else.
Start > Run... > "type" CHKDSK /R/F
You may want to check your system files too..
Start > Run... > "type" SFC /QUIET

To find out more about these types of commands, you can type after them a space
and forward slash and "?" mark.
i.e -- SFC /?
i.e. -- CHKDSK /?

Den, sorry, if you already knew that. I dare you to tell 5 others that may not
know. This is not SPAM chain letter type stuff. I help thousands of souls along
with a great bunch here and other NG's. And my hats off to them.

Please forgive me for being so wordy.

good computing,

I don't know how to fix your problem but you can right click on My
Computer>Manage>double click Shared Folders>click on Shares>right click in
the right hand pane (not on an existing share) and choose New File Share.
HTH.
