Hi,

We have a RAID 1 array set up on Win2k Server with an Adaptec 3200S.
We're running an Intel SR2100 Chassis (4 hot-swap drive bays) and an
Intel L440GXG board.

My goal is to have a mirror drive, but also to be able to rotate in a
disk and pull a bootable drive once a week for off site backup. The
machine can't be turned off or rebooted in this process.

I can't really find any procedure for breaking the mirror, pulling the
drive with the computer still on, and starting the mirror process
again.

Last night, I yanked the drive like I've done 20 times before, but
this time it blue screened on me. It almost didn't make it back up
again - kernel problems galore.

So, I see a button to "Fail Drive" in the Adaptec Storage manager. My
only thought is to hit the "Fail Drive" button, pull the drive,
replace it with the next in line for rotation, and then mirror
again...

But the big question is: Will I be able to boot from the failed drive?
I wish there was a better term than "Fail Drive"....Is there a better
procedure to acheive my goal??
