PROPER function in a colum

I have imported a list of manes and addresses for
customer data base - when they were entered they were not
consistient in their application of capitals and small
case - before I import them into a mail merge I need to
put in proper format - I can't seem to get it to work
with the help inside excel please help - thanks
 
If your data is in A put this in another column =PROPER(A1) and copy down,
then copy and paste special over your original data

In general it is best to provide more information about what
you do get to help other help you.

Anyway using a macro to do this would be a lot easier and
should take you about 15 minutes to set up the first time if
you've never installed or used a macro before, and once you
have a macro you can invoke it with a shortcut key combination,
a menu or a toolbar icon.

This is a nice one to start with because, all of the lines
of code are described in the webpage, and the macro does a
much better job than the Proper Worksheet Function at
capitalizing names as you would actually capitalize them.
i.e. McRitchie instead of Mcritchie
