I hope this doesn't belong in Hardware, but Games seems appropriate.

I have an Interact Propad6 (P-228) hooked to a PC running XP. The driver
for it is part of XP and it is a choice when I use Add Game Controller in
the Control Panel. The D-pad works fine. Buttons 1-4 are fine. Buttons 5
and 6 and the matching front Fire buttons are backwards. I'd open it up and
rewire the inside, but all 6 buttons are correct on my ME computer. On ME I
had to install the Interact driver. When I try to install that driver in XP
it fails, of course.

The drivers I find online also fail to install in XP even though users claim
they have installed them. I don't get it.

Any suggestions (other than get another controller and use the Propad for
ME)?

Hi John,

Most games allow you to reassign buttons to different
functions. If your games and your conscience allow for
this then I would think it's a viable workaround. :-)

Reassigning buttons isn't always available. I should just break down and
buy a new controller. Was kind of you not to point that out.

Tis the season afterall John. ;-) However, you could also
try installing it using the "Custom..." button to see whether
the buttons are better recognised in the games that way.
