Proof that Norton removes database definitions...

Yes they do remove virus defintions and add/change the name of some,
however,
If you had taken a little time to enquire why (seeing as Norton are not
hiding the fact) you would have discovered, like I did, that there is a
valid reason.
I ran a selection of you "proof" and got the following results :
eumel.391 = Hoax
Delta.1167 = Hoax
Baloo.Family = Hoax
Bloodhound.IU.01 = Hoax
Bloodhound.IU.02 = Hoax
Backdoor.Nibu = Hoax
A closer look revealed that in other cases either
1. a variant of a virus was a hoax,and/or
2. the "deleted" definition had been replaced by ;
a. a renamed definition,or
b. an improved/updated detection "engine"
As for the subject line of this post, I don't see why you bother ranting
about "proof" when Norton publishes the "proof" in every release note, and
freely available for those interested them.

The precise reason I posted it, is because people keep saying that it's
a myth. Regardless of whether or not they are hoaxes, they DO delete
definitions from their database.

All antivirus vendors do. Thay are replaced by updated signatures. It
doesn't mean they stop detecting the threats. What a pointless
excercise :-))

Bugger, you just exploded another conspiracy theory.

I assume you are replying to me, so,
what part of "Norton make public, additions/renaming/and deletions to their
definition data base" don't you understand ?

This would be funny if it weren't so sad. :(
