Hi,

I have a link to a PDF document on my site. When someone clicks on it, it
just opens the PDF file in the browser window. I want it to prompt the user
to either "open" or "save". Does anyone know how I do this?

Thanks in advance,
Deb

You have to put a note by the link that reads:
To save to your computer, right click the link
and select "Save as"

Since the topic is mentioned...............

I have a PC and I know what how to write those directions. What is the
phrasing for someone who has a Mac?

JL, I wouldn't have a clue.
The last Apple I had was II E that I bought
in 1984!!

Did html exist then??
;-)

JL,

Here is the instructions that one of my clients provided for MAC users to
download document or image from his website, since he is a MAC user.

Macintosh Users:

Microsoft Internet Explorer 5+ (MSIE 5..)
Pattern Downloads -
Hold down the control key then click on the Thumbnail Image. A menu option
dialog will appear move mouse to select Download Image To Disk and release
mouse button. Next a Save As dialog will open where you can rename the file
and choose a convenient location on your hard drive, next click Save and the
download process should begin. When the file has finished downloading,
locate the file (where you saved it) and double-click it to open it. Or open
it from inside an image editing program (i.e. Photoshop, Photostyler, etc)
to resize and print the drawing.

Netscape 6+ (Mozilla/5.0...)
Click on a Pattern Thumbnail Image or the Document/Preview Download button
and the File Download dialog should appear. Choose Save this file to Disk
and click the OK button. A Save As dialog box will open where you can rename
the file (if desired) and choose a convenient location on your hard drive
(remember this location) click Save and the download process should begin.
When the file has finished downloading, locate the file (on your hard disk,
where you saved it) and double-click to open it or open it from inside an
image editing program to change the size prior to printing.

The Apple Key is the "control key" right?

I didn't write the instructions, and I have no way to verify the
correctness, however the client should know since his publishing business
mainly uses MACs.

Oh? Do you have a Mac? Can you tweak those instructions? Or I should
ask...........Craig, would you please tweak those instructions?

Sorry, I'm a PC guy. Just remembered that bit from having worked with Macs in an
office some years ago.
