promoting a 2003 member server to a domain controller

Hello,

I am trying to promote a 2003 member server to a domain controller using
dcpromo and I get a message saying I need to run ADPREP.

Does anybody know anything about this?

I forgot to mention that the existing domain controller is a windows 2000
server.

You did not mention if you have Exchange 2000.
