Hi -

Anyone using 500GB hard drives with a Promise UltraTrak SX4000? I have
searched Promise's web site and talked with their tech support and they
have only tested 400GB drives. I would like to hear from anyone using
500GB drives with their SX4000. Are you using Hitachis? Seagates? Have
you had any problems?

Thanks,

Peter

400GB is within the range of upto ~550GB (3FFFFFFFh blocks) without having to use an extra address bit, so you should be safe.

You forgot to mention the Promise SX-series of RAID cards is about the
worst on the planet.

You'd get better performance from a Filofax.
