Promise SX6000 Explorer Hangs

I had a raid5 on a SX6000 controller setup in Win2000 SBS. I moved the
server and ended up (for unrelated reasons) having to reinstall the OS.
After installing XP Pro, I can browse the file hierarchy of the array but
when I try and perform file operations in explorer (like copying a few
files), explorer hangs completely. The machine has to be rebooted. I'm
installing W2K3 Server next, but I'm suspecting a controller card failure.
I'd like to hear if anyone has seen this before and can offer another
explanation. (Note: Its important that I do not lose any data on the array)

FWIW, reflashing the controller firmware seems to have done the trick.
