I have spent the last 4 hours trying to install Vista RTM on my machine.
The upgrade didnt go well so i decided to blow it away and start fresh. I
have an Asus A8V-Deluxe MB with promise 378 sata controller. I downloaded
the drivers for my MB from ASUS and when prompted by the Vista install I
put in the CD and pointed to both the 2003 and xp drivers. None of these
showed my drives. Is there something I am missing here? Someone please tell
me I dont need to buy a new motherboard to run Vista

Thanks!

Hi,

Force the XP drivers for the 378 controller, it'll work fine. When you are
searching for driver files, show all the driver files available and select
it and ignore the warnings. Asus hasn't released an update for this board's
controllers yet, but I've used the XP ones without issue (both 32 and 64
bit).
