Prolink PServer N7337 - Deleted + can't setup again

I hope there is someone here who can help me.

I have recently taken over the support of a small office. While setting up
a printer (which was already configured on the Win2k Server) and having a
number of problems I deleted the printer on the workstation. At least I
thought I was deleting it on the workstation but the printer has disappeared
from the Server too and I now am having problems setting it up again.

There is a single printer (HP Laserjet 1200) connected to the network via a
Prolink N7337 printserver. This printserver allows three parallel port
printers to be accessible to the network.

I cannot find any software or manuals that came with the printserver,
although I have found a single download on the Internet which is an Admin
utility for the print server. Installing and running this finds the print
server as '3P_PrintServ410465'.

Some workstations that can still print to the server use the port
'LPT:PST0465P1'.

The company have had a couple of new PC's delivered recently and I am having
difficulty setting up this printer other than connecting via a machine that
already has the printer set up - not ideal since machines are not left on
24x7.

Does nayone know how I can setup the relevant ports on the new machines to
allow them to print to the printer and/or how to set it up on the server.

The network print port does not get deleted from a system when deleting the
printer. If the port is still in the list of ports, you should be able to
direct the queue to the network device. What is the port description on the
workstations that connect directly to the device using port 'LPT:PST0465P1'?

If the port monitor is no longer installed, you need to determine what
network protocols and services the device supports. Without the manual this
will be difficult. If you have a network sniffer you can find out if it
responds to net and print queries. The first thing I would do is see if you
can find the device name on the network using TCP/IP. From your mail, I'd
say the name is PST0465P1. Either ping or net view \\PST0465P1. I'd try
this on a machine that is connected to the same network segment which sounds
like this is the case in a small office. If you do not get a response,
install the NetBeui protocol on one machine and see if you can net view over
this transport (uninstall the transport if you do not find the device and it
is not typically used in this office). If you get a response from ping,
check to see if the device supports the LPD service. lpq -S PST0465P1 -P
LPT (if lpq is not on a system install the Windows Component, Network
Component, Print Services for Unix).

If you can contact the device great, it not, most likely this will require
software from the vendor. Depending on how much you charge per hour, it may
be more economical for the company to just go get another printserver device
and retain the manuals and software in a secure location.
