.. not really a question about PowerPOint, I know, but I'm hoping someone will
be able to advise me!

The lead from my laptop to my projector (which I use to display PowerPoint -
weak link, but it's the best I can do!) is about 2 metres long.

I will be using a church hall (I work in the voluntary sector) for a
presentation shortly and, whilst I will be giving the presentation, someone
else will be pressing the buttons. He wants to sit out at the side of the hall
- but the lead is npowhere near long enough to allow him to do that.

ios there a way od "daisy chaining" leads together? or is there another way
around the problem? Or do I just sit him next to the projector and pretend he
isn't there?

Hope someone can help.

God bless

Maybe you can arm your "helper" with a remote to change the slides?
thanks, echo - but he needs to be able to see the laptop - and, besides, I
*dream* of a remote control! lol

You can use common VGA monitor extension cables between the laptop and the
projector, but you'll experience some loss of video quality. The longer the
cable, the worse the loss. Very high quality cables can help (a lot). Get
the best you can afford.

On the other hand, will your associate sitting next to the projector be all
that noticeable?
He may feel so, but the audience won't likely be paying him much attention.
Tell him to wear his black shirt, slacks and shoes and be quiet. ,-)

LJR,

I have used the 15-pin VGA cables to "daisy chain" a short and longer (50
foot) VGA cable to connect to a projector.

The short cable you have probably has connectors that are male to male. The
cable you will need to connect to will have a female connector on one end
(to connect to your short cable) and a male on the other (to plug into the
projector). Does this make sense?

The signal through the cable should be strong enough with these lengths.
With longer cable lengths, sometimes the signal is so weak once it reaches
the projector, the projector won't show the image. You might be able to use
a longer length depending on the computer and projector. Be sure to test
your setup before you need it.

Hope this helps,

Raymond

I hear ya. It was a thought, though. :-)

Luckily others have some better ideas for your situation.
