Project saves before I am ready

Iam trying to Capture, Edit, and save to disk, video from VHS (analog). When
I get a collection of clips captured, they save as a project to My Video
before I get a chance to edit them. No matter how many times i import the
file back to WMM, edit it and "Save Project As", it saves in the unedited
form, even if I change the name each time. What is my problem?

the project is the project.
Think of it as a cake recipe, includes all the ingredients, but not the
actual cake.
You need to save movie as, which will save the edited video, just like the
baked cake.
