I created a movie in Movie Maker and now want to burn a DVD.

When I go to Nero (I forget which one, but it says I can burn a video DVD),
I can't pull in the MM file. Apparently, the MM project has an ending like
..MMV and Nero doesn't recognize it.

What do I need to do? MM doesn't give me the option to save directly to a DVD.

You need to save it to the computer first as an DV-AVI file, then have nero
get it..

I saved my project as a DV-AVI file, but Nero still isn't recognizing it. It
asking for a .vob, .bup or .ifo. How do I go from a DV-AVI to one of those?

Howdy SteveS...Yes that right..MSMM2 has its own FILEname..you must use the
SAVE to my Computer LINK...choose a DV-avi File...or a
WINMediaVideoFile(wmv)....remember to look for a File that offers 30-Frames
per second...but DV-avi is best all over the place..your finished movie is a
MPEG-2 File.

Howdy SteveS...well there buddy...I removed my NERO Software..it was not
working well on my PC..I use a ROXIO Platinum Edition..its about 90% easier
to understand and it has the same quality..better Transitions and Title Pages
and good Text in the VideoWave Movie Creator..I use the MSMM2 as my Start
Point..I do the really quick stuff and then move to a ROXIO software for the
really long-winded work..then back to the MSMM2 to finish w/Audio and
Inspection...then a FILE is completed for the BURNing Stage...that is done in
ROXIO DVD-Builder...takes about 3-days for me to make a 50-minute movie.

Sorry, still not gettig what you're saying.

Here's my story. I saved my movie as .avi file (DV-AVI). I go to Nero to
pull it in and it says the file is not compatible. It's saying it's looking
for .vob, .bup. or .ifo.
What must I do next to get it into one of these file types so Nero will
except it.
Thanks,
Steve

Hello,

Run Nero Vision Express

Click on Make DVD

Click on Add Video and select your DV-AVI file

After import process has completed edit the file as desired by double
clicking it

When you return to the Main Menu (the one that appears after step 3 above)
Click on the Create Chapters option and make as many chapter points as you
need

When you return to the main menu click on NEXT (bottom right) and select a
menu system....clicking on the larger preview window takes you to a menu
editing system.....you can change everything...note that you are given more
basic options if you have downloaded the add on templates from
Nero...forget the name now but there are two of them numbered one and two

Once you have the menu sorted out (remember to check if there are
additional menus by selecting the drop down at the top of the menu editing
screen) you click on Next again and proceed to the burning process. I
always select the option to create an image file on the hard drive which I
can then mount using the ImageMount utility and check the final DVD...when
happy I then double click the image file which takes me straight to the
burning option

Hope that helps

What do you use?
What's considered the most "user friendly".

Nero came with my DVD burner, so I thought I'd start with that.

Thanks,
Steve

SteveS...the NERO software is a very good DVD-maker...IF YOU Can Figure IT
OUT....I did try a NERO-software..a very recent Edition came Bundled w/my new
SONY-Burner....NERO is more trouble than its worth...so..I would suggest the
Platinum Editions of a ROXIO Product.....I use a EZ CD/DVD
Creator(Platinum)Edition[ver.6].....[ver.7] is out for sale....I would also
suggest you purchase the RETAIL Versions rather than attempt the Bundled
stuff or Trial Versions.....ROXIO is very nice....I also have a DELL Movie
Studio-ROXIO VideoWaveMovieCreatorPLUS....which is a nice touch(for easy
Editing)I also BURN in DVD-Builder....perfecto-mundo....I Capture in
Microsoft Movie Maker 2....I do my Audio-editing in MSMM2....I do my TEXT in
DELL Movie Studio--or Color Panels and TEXT--or I will do Color Panels and
TEXT in MSMM2....DELL Movie Studio and MSMM2 have the Best
Transitiions...other software packages seem lost on Transitions---Title
Pages......Text Procedures.....Go ROXIO....Keep MSMM2....try PHOTO-STORY3 by
Microsoft.....make a Library COPY(disk)....<<<you will need WMP-10 to install
Photo Story 3.....<<<some very nice touches there.....so too make a long
story short...((Capture))in MSMM2.....DV-Video File....//or DRAG&DROP
jpg-images in MSMM2....edit what features you want and use the FINISH
MOVIE---Save to my Computer...choose DV-avi.....thats a LARGE FILE that will
DEFRAG-nicely for a smoother-running video.....Defrag it before OPENING it in
another Author/Editng Software Program....keep it a LARGE FILE....until you
are ready to BURN...to Blank DISK in mpeg-2....because it does
DEFRAG-nicely....I will take that Large File some 3-editing processes befor a
BURN....use a mp3-audio file...or a Windows Media File(.wma)....I use the
..wma because its a less---compressed audio File....If you return your Edited
DV-avi File Back to a MSMM2 Collections WINDOW and DROP it to the
STORYBOARD,,,you can edit the AUDIO at that POINT....I do this as a Last
Procedure and a Last SAVE to my COMPUTER--again in DV-avi....commit a Last
DEFRAG....DELETE all Previous-edited Versions....do a General HDD-Clean to
make a BURNED COPY in ROXIO DVD-Builder....a mpeg-2 DVD w/LPCM 2.0 Digital
Stereo.

I click on Add (3rd step) and Nero says the file is not compatible.

To save you time from reading up the thread, here was my question:

I saved my movie as .avi file (DV-AVI). I go to Nero to
pull it in and it says the file is not compatible. It's saying it's looking
for .vob, .bup. or .ifo.
What must I do next to get it into one of these file types so Nero will
except it.
Thanks,
Steve

Hello,

Are you certain that you followed the steps exactly??? I have a feeling you
have not done so....To prove it to myself I just imported DV-AVI created
in MovieMaker...it works perfectly.

Can you tell us what version of Nero Vision Express you are using?? The
current version as of a couple of days back is 3.1.0.14

You must convert avi to DVD mpeg2 first. (eg. Total video converter
http://www.effectmatrix.com)
Then using DVD author to edit the menu of DVD( TMpg Author), if you do
not need any menu of DVD, maybe the step can be omitted, i am not sure.

And then burn the result to DVD
