I finally! got that one big plug OUT!,as before I was pinching the 2
little metal pieces,one on bottom & other one on top, of the
plug,together!,so I tried pulling the metal pieces APART,instead of
pinching together,and it eased right on out!,so tried printing after
that & it would NOT print color,BUT it DID print in black & white!,which
thrilled me,as after nothing,before,THAT seemed great!!!! :)))

However there IS SOLID black ink on either side of a text,cartoon,or
whatever.so it's still wasting black ink & the new color cartridge picks
up NO color,but just wanted you to know that,at least,something good IS
happening! & I know you will be pleased for me!

I don't expect any further help,as NOT why I'm posting.I JUST wanted you
to know all your many suggetions payed off! & thank you,SO MUCH!!,once
more!

As for the web being called a piece of "junk",by one poster,here,as
opposed to an expensive computer,it really does have some good
points,especially,for us older people,who can't afford to buy all the
wonderful software,that does so many different things,that a webtv CAN'T
do!,but it was so easy to understand,from day one,plus never gave me a
problem, whatsoever,in it SEEMS like at least 20 years! Maybe it has not
been around that long!,but seems like I have had it that long,anyway OR
very close to it,& never a maintenance problem,no virus's,and it has
given me so much pleasure!,although we ARE afraid it will not last much
longer & that's sad,as many of us older people can't AFFORD a
computer,or the cost of repair,the software etc. as well as our
concentration,is not so sharp,any longer & to work it properly is just
frustrating even if we could afford it.

I won't take up anymore space now as know there are important issues to
be discussed here,so please excuse this rambling from a senior
citizen,but I feel you might like to know,for what it's worth,that it
never pays to give up!,but of course,am sure,you already know that! :))
Just wanted to share my happiness that you made possible! Thank's

Nan, take up all the space you want. It is nice to hear you have
solved your problem.
This group is a little like finding your prince, you have to kiss a
lot of toads before he comes along.
There are some really good people who know their stuff here.

Seems the biggest dummy, above, is still trying to "lean a PC" (don't ask,
don't tell), or is it perhaps the keyboard that he finds so challenging.
A mind is a terrible thing to waste.

Thank you for keeping us informed. Most of us are delighted that you are making
progress and we wish you further success.
If WebTV does the job for you then it is by any intelligent definition a good
product. Sorry to hear that it might not be around much longer.

The only reason I don't have a webtv is because there is no network
support. As in I pay for a cable connection and don't wish to spend
another $20ish/month to get dialup speeds. I do have a net terminal on
my TV which is even primitive to check my e-mail over coffee. Text
only, no web at all. But if someone who has 3 active PCs would
consider one, I can totally see why someone else would want one. There
is ease of use, the fact that it has no moving parts and isn't subject
to being exposed to viruses for the *most* part. It was a product
designed for this new age of consumer, the interactive TV watcher,
which did not exist and mostly still does not. Their *failure* was
likely due to the fact they were expecting revenue from add clicking
that no one clicked on, and the fact that in this day and age broadband
is more popular... a feature not supported at all on webtv.

My only beef with webtv is the fact that there were essentally game
systems on the market that could have done a better job than webtv...
something that already existed that could be either computer like or
appliance like. In many ways they were reinventing the wheel going to
a wooden one rather than steel and rubber. This is taking into account
it's relative age. But still given it's application and target market
it doesn't do too badly.

msn tv 2 looks a little more interesting, it at least supports network,
windows video and music. Quicktime and realaudio though are not
supported. Again I can see where ease of use or simply making your TV
into a web appliance useful. The price is $150ish with a $100 rebate
for a referb, closer to $100 after rebate for a new one.

No argument, my point is that for this lady it does the job. You know this, I
know this and most importantly she knows this. It is a tragedy that anybody
would find the time and the motivation to denigrate something that is important
in her life, I guess it just shows how skin deep our civilisation really is.

There was a time when webtv cost as much as a PC, so at such time I
could see *value* being an issue. Even today the new verison is about
$150 which is roughly equal in power to a PC you can find at Goodwill
for $20... so I can see someone think in terms of dollar value it might
not be the best choice. But... for someone who doesn't know how to
install windows, doesn't know hardware, who pretty much would have to
pay for some form of technicall support onsite or offsite something
that you plug in and works at $150 for something you gotta spend
upwards of $75ish/hr on to get fixed when your primary application is
checking your e-mail and hitting the web... well dollar for dollar the
new msn tv II gets you online for less.

So, it's not a skin deep issue... it's a he's a rude foofoo head issue.

my sentiments, exactly. For someone who has no interest in or need for the
greater functionality of a computer and just wants to deal with email and
web surfing it works OK. No need to buy a backhoe when all you need is a
shovel. There are still people out there who are either technologically
"challenged" or have no interest in learning how to deal with computers, and
this gives them the opportunity to use the limited functions that webtv
offers. It appears that there was only one uncivilized troll who denigrated
her use of the webtv.

am almost 80 years old & not well,which isn't surprising at this age,but
being on line & being able to print articles out gives me such joy!,&

Let's not forget the fact that there are those of us who simply don't
own this device who by reading other issues get a clue. While I don't
own one I am likely to meet people who do... less likely than others as
my cable company provides webTV style terminals or at least did for
less than 1/2 the price monthly for dialup, but still it is possible.

I felt a wonderful glo,because of it!,as I choose to concentrate on as
many NICE thoughts as possible,& get rid of ALL negative ones!, as
SOON,as possible!,...like immedietely! :)))
I HAVE,as you said,lived long enough to know that it is always to ones
BIG!!!, advantage to do so!,no matter what!!!!,& therefore one of the
most important things we can do for ourself!

As one of you said,"a mind is a terrible thing to waste" & IF we dwell
in bad thoughts it TRULY damages our HEALTH!!!! Even vitamins, the right
food & excercise;however;needed & important,
will NOT make us 100% healthy,IF our thinking is all messed up,&
negative!

As far as many are concerned,to think negative is giving in to satan,and
drags us down to HIS!!!! depths.

That is not to say it's right to ignore anothers suffering & just
dismiss THAT, because IT'S quite a very different thing,of course,and if
all suffering was just ignored that would be terrible,but to allow
ourself to be hurt by some unthinking,unfeeling person,is just a waste
of our time & energy,and I can't in all honesty,say I LOVE my enemies,as
it is asked of us,but I do pray that all evil,abuse and useless
unkindness be removed from those hearts & replaced,with genuine
compassion,and love,instead of hate,& also for rational understanding as
to WHY evilness has & continues to go ON for SO LONG!!!! :((

If anything tempts me to get bitter it's that!
but I realize bitterness,no matter how it's rationalized is STILL
damaging & I'll admit I have a problem with it when listening to the
NEWS!!!! & I DO then,at more times than is good,get bitter!,but if I
can't do anything about it,EXCEPT be bitter,it doesn't help the
situation,but it SURE takes a toll on ME!!,& I can't afford to let it
envelope me,& just let it go,before sneaky depression has a chance to
set in!

I am SO VERY thankful for each one that actually DOES do something,MORE
than just feel bad,and I do what I can,when it's possible,like with
animals & the LITTLE!!!, I'm capable of,which is just"a drop in the
bucket"sad to say,but I don't dwell on the negative,as that can be a
very trecherous
thing to do to oneself,and habit forming!!!!

Those prayers I say & HAVE said for a long time have not been
answered,of course,but it can't hurt to hang in there,as who HAS the
answer to this unexplainable world & happenings of life?!

There is SO much that goes unanswered, & it's all so overwhelming!,&
each year tops the previous one,with 1 unbelievable thing,after
another,so why should not anything be possible?!,no matter HOW
bizarre!,when just the fact there is a world at ALL! is impossible to
understand!,but SOMEONE had to START it!!

around",which you're all familiar with,of course.It's curious how many
sayings got their start! :-) Some don't make sense.it seems,but with
some study I suppose they might. :)

all,know how important it IS!,but I come across the saying every now &
then that says "If U have something to say but DON'T say it,and FEEL U
SHOULD say it,well no matter WHAT!!!!...SAY it! ;-) PLUS I'm an old

I have faith in OEM ink
in my opinion,anyway,but it must hinge on the way one was
