Hi, I need to find a program that will help tell me if someone has
controll of my PC. As I use the computer, the cursor will start
moving on it's own, if I am using the mouse or not. I have text
screens that start to scroll while I am looking at them.
I am running Zone Alarm, the free one and have the ports to Remote
desktop open.
Any suggestions or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Sharon,
I tried what you have presented to me and actually went to 3 different
sites to run the anti-virus and the machine was clean, so was the
Spyware programs.
Any other quest.
Thanks for all your help.

Dan, do you have a firewall on this system? If this is a "hacker," it
sounds like you've just about ruled out every possibility except a "root
kit." Hard to detect and hard to tell which root kit and how deep it's
hooked into the system. The most efficient way to deal with them is to
reinstall everything from scratch. Thankfully, these are very rare but they
do exist.

Other thoughts:
In "olden computer days" there was an autoscroll feature available in many
programs. Online time was precious, often charged by the minute - so
programs would autoscroll the windows as you paged through them. This isn't
as common now as it once was but have seen the obscure setting in a program
now and then. Even recent versions of AOL software (!) still had that
setting buried in its preferences.

The scroll lock key used to come into play on this as well but it's now
been reduced to deciding whether the arrow keys or the mouse will scroll
the windows.

I've also seen this feature (autoscroll) in the control panels for some
laptop touchpads - running your finger along a "zone" on the touchpad will
scroll at the rate of x lines per pass. I have not seen it in mouse
software but I haven't used every mouse on the market either. Wouldn't hurt
to check on any scroll settings in mouse control panels and, if it applies,
in touchpad control panels too.

Sharon,
Sorry not to have responded back, just realized I hadn't. I took
your advice and download most of those programs and ran them. System
runs fine now.
Thanks for the help.

No problem, Dan. That was quite an arsenal of programs in that list and am
glad to hear that your machine has been running fine once again.
Take care,
