programs that need to run

i was wondering what are the neccesary programs that i can not close in my task manager? email me at (e-mail address removed) with responses

Hi Rob,

Asked here, answered here.

On the programs tab - all of them can be disabled.
On the processes tab, any that are system-critical will not allow you to
shut them down.

BlackViper has a website that lists the services needed in XP. See
<http://www.blackviper.com/Articles/OS/OSguides.htm>.

As far as non-service processes (programs), you need to look at each
one with something like Process Explorer (free) from
<http://www.sysinternals.com/>, which will tell you how each process
starts up, what components each contains, and who wrote each module.
