Why is it that when my user's run the remove program from ActiveSync's
CeAppMgr, or the removal directly on a PPC, the shortcut icon in the
"Programs" section does not disappear? Also, when they install the
application again, they get a second icon, and so on...this is very
confusing for the user and I would like it if this didn't happen. Has
anyone had similar results or a solution as to how to remedy this
situation?

Thanks

Running "Remove program" from CeAppMgr would only unstill desktop portion
of your app if you have correct "Uninstall = ..." entry if your INI file.

Uninstalling application from device won't have any effect on desktop.
This is by design and allows reinstalling application on to device at any
time by checking the box in CeAppMgr without reinstalling desktop portion.

As to two icons (and probably two entries in ARP), that is a bug in your
installer which is up to you to fix.
How to do so - depends on installer technology you're using.

Best regards,

Ilya

I have noticed something very similar, and posted on a topic very simalar to
this the other day, but have not gotten any response yet. In my case, I have
my INF file set to create a shortcut to the Start menu. However, if there
are already 7 items on the start menu(this is the max) it bumps the shortcut
to the Start\Programs section.
when I re-install the app, a new icon gets created, presumably because it
doesnt "know" that the other icon exists.

I have tried setting two shortcut paths, One to the start menu, and a second
to Start\Programs with no luck.

Hopefully someone has found a solution to this..

Hello Aaron,
Do you know of a way to remove the icon itself from the 'Programs' menu? If
I go to the Add/Remove the program does not show up since it was truly
removed by the Actice Sync tool menu. If I click on the icon I get a cannot
find *.exe

Thanks,
mal
