programs remain running in task manager after being closed

i have noticed that one program i use spacifically for
work will remain running in task manager after i close
it. then i cant re open the program without ending task.
iv heard windows XP might have a problem with this kind
of thing. anyone have any info on this? thanks in
advance, ken.

Without knowing what program you are referring to, we can't offer specific
advice. Some programs are known to have what are called "memory leaks" -
bits of the program that remain in memory even after the program has been
closed. The fault lies with the program, not the operating system. The
workaround is to 'end task', as you have discovered.
