Programs not starting.

I run Vista Home Premium, AVG free, windows defender and firewall. Programs
aren't starting. I click run, then something happens, but nothing. When I
check the task manager, they are running, but nothing shows up. THe programs
are AOL instant messenger and Zydos/Datel's client for providing wireless for
my Nintendo Wii.

Have you tried reinstalling the programs? Also, when this is happening, go
to task manager/processes and kill the processes for these programs, then
try running them again. The reason I suggest this is before I had HP SP1
installed, I had this problem with Outlook where it did exactly as you
describe. Killing the process and trying again always resolved the problem,
temporarily, but it worked.
 
I did try that, but it doesn't work.
