Hi XPerts,

My old Pentium II works fine with XP in general, but I have one problem:
Since the kids use this PC, I install some game software every now and
then, from my own account (with administrating rights of course).

The program runs fine under this account, but when one of my sons try to
run it from his account, it stops working. This has happened with a
multitude of programmes so far. The last one I used, gave the warning
that part of the program was in use by another user (which was not,
since I stopped my own account).

Any idea what's going wrong, and better still: any idea how to repair?

Thanks in advance.

Best,
CArlo

It's about profiles. A lot of programs put information into the user
profile of the account that installs the program. To get everyone to use
the program, move/copy its shortcut from the user profile folder in which it
installed the shortcut to the All Users profile folder.

Hope that works - let us know please.
c:\documents and settings is where you start.

Sorry for responding so late, but I'm at a too low level of profile
knowledge, I suppose.

I cannot really find the profile folder. I guess it's the applications
folder under All Users, but I'm not sure it is, and I am afraid the
shortcut did not work.

Maybe a reference to a help page, will help me.

Thanks
Carlo
