Hello:

My computer has been infected by aa auto dial porn
program that I have been unable to delete. After much
ballyhoo, I was instructed to disable the autodialer,
which I think I have done. I was also told to delete it
from the Registry, but am not comfortable doing this
because of the potential harm it could do and also
because of my limited technical knowledge.

So, is there anyway for me to request that Microsoft, or
Dell, dial into my computer and repair this for me? Or
is there someone there who can translate the
procedure/jargon for me so that I can get this done.

This has been an absolute nightmare. Any help
appreciated. E-mail (e-mail address removed) with answers or
suggestions.

Larry,

Asked here, answered here. For everybody's benefit.

Get HijackThis, Spybot S&D, and expert advice at SWI Forums (all
free). Complete instructions are available at:

Paranoia comes from experience - and is not necessarily a bad thing.

Hi Larry,

Download the following utilities, use with care, as some entries
detected by Hijack This are legitimate, before you remove something
you are not sure about, ask the experts.

I would begin with ad-aware and spybot, if still no joy, then Hijack
This and finally CWshredder.

Download, install and update the
spyware removers from the links below. Run both of them.

Ad-aware
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/

Spybot S&D
http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?lang=en&page=download

You can also download Hijack This from here:
http://www.mjc1.com/files/merijn/hijackthis.exe
Go here:
http://mjc1.com/mirror/hjt/

For instructions on how to use it; you have to post the log it
produces so experts tell you what is good and what is malware

If these don't correct the problem, then get yourself a copy of
BHODemon, available at
http://www.definitivesolutions.com/bhodemon.htm .

It does not need installing - simply unzip and run the EXE program. It
is easy to use. It will find the hijackware DLL files, and give you
the ability to disable them.

Download the utility CWshredder:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/cwshredder.zip

Unzip - close *all* instances of IE & OE, hit the executable and
follow the prompts.

Hope this helps.
