Don't laugh at me please but when I leave my computer and come back to it
sometimes there appears to be more programmes running than I am aware of, how
do I check to see exactly which programmes are running. Yes I do know that my
knowledge is VERY limited but I will get there. new user.

Which programs and where do you see that they are running? If you have
something like Norton antivirus or systemworks, they install with a default
schedule for unattended running. We cannot tell if it is a legit program or
spyware without more info.

hi annie...... press ctrl/alt/delete at the same time and the task manager
will appear.. applications will show you how many apps are running...then
click on processes...there you will see everthing that is running on your
comp...you can shut them down from there but they will boot up next time on
start up your comp... to disable them from booting up go to ..
start/run..then type "msconfig"!(no qoutes)..when the box(system config
utility) appears click on "services"..then put a tick in the box "hide all
microsoft services" now uncheck all that is left eccept your firewll and
antivirus....now go to the next one "start up ".... click on disable all then
just go back and put a check next to your anti virus and firewall...click on
apply then ok ..you will now be asked to reboot click ok...when your comp
comes back up you will get a warning you are using the "system config
utility"..tick the box "do not show this message again"..that will now stop
all them annoying icons from appearing 1 by 1 in your taskbar....you must now
do a full system scan for spyware and viruses...spyware use ad-aware
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/ and a real good free anti
virus (if u dont have 1) http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/2/... hope
this helps you..;-)
